Army Usmc

You've completed your first step and begun to prepare for the marines. You've got to train and prepare for marine boot camp like nothing you've ever done before. It's going to be painful and challenging, both physically, mentally, and emotionally...Are you prepared?
My friend, who is now an E-3 (LCPL) in the US Marines, told me that what he did to prepare for the marines before USMC boot camp at Parris Island, SC, saved his butt, so to say. He said that being physically prepared is vital before you go off to Marine Boot Camp. Here was his daily routine before he went to USMC boot camp:
1) Wake up at 5-5:30 and run 2-3 miles at an intense pace.
2) Do 3 sets of 10 pull-ups.
3) Do 50 push-ups and 50 sit-ups.
4) Swim whenever possible.
That may seem like a lot, but he said that, since he prepared for boot camp by following the previous physical routine daily, he "breezed" through the physical component of marine boot camp compared to others who hadn't prepared.
Also, he said to prepare for the us marines, he had to prepare himself mentally. He gave me some helpful tips and strategies to prepare for the marines mentally and emotionally:
1) Think how "King Leonidas" would think.
2) Don't express or show your fear, distress, or uncertainty.
3) Resist negative temptations and don't take the "easy route."
My friend began doing all of this beforehand to prepare for the marines and for marine boot camp. He noticed a huge difference between himself and the recruits that thought that they had done enough to prepare for marine boot camp had an extremely tough time making it through because they had not prepared for boot camp the right way.
At US Marine Boot Camp, whether you are stationed at Parris Island or San Diego, the drill instructors there will try to make it hell for you. To prepare for the marines, you better be ready to take the marine drill instructors' screaming in your face, singling you out, and trying to tear you down emotionally, physically, mentally, and every other state that there is. So prepare for marine boot camp the correct way, the way my friend did, so that you can survive marine boot camp "easily!"
Who hires the most undesireable people, Army or USMC?
I heard the Army will pretty much hire anyone, including junkies and felons. I have even heard some Army recruitors visiting local jails to find their next generation of enlisted. I don't know about the Marines.
None of the services actively take felons. There are a very few felony waivers granted for special cases, but they generally require complete restitution, serious remorse and some special circumstance (extremely young age, et al). These waivers are much less than 1% of enlistees.
From the New York Times, April 22, 2008, if you can believe that lying rag:
"The number of waivers issued to active-duty Army recruits with felony convictions jumped to 511 in 2007, from 249 in 2006. Marine recruits with felony convictions rose to 350 from 208."
From this it looks like the USMC wins the prize for felony waivers, since they only had about 25% of the enlistees the Army had, but had 70% of the waivers. Or, for those of you who went to government schools, a USMC trainee was about 3 times more likely to have a felony waiver than an Army trainee.
Visiting jails, for any recruiter, from any service, has been verboten for 4 decades. It just doesn't happen.
