What Is Paracord Used For?
In Parachutes - Parachute Cord (paracord) in essence is what connects a parachutist to his canopy and is the life line of paratroopers the world over. Paracord has found its way into the commercial market due to the thousands of uses a high quality cord has in a field environment. Parachute cord or 'paracord' as it is more commonly referred to can and has been used in a variety of ways. Its initial design function was in the construction of parachutes in World War 2. Each line of paracord is made of continuous filament nylon outside covering and seven high strength inner nylon cords. Each single line of paracord has a tensile strength tested to 550 pounds and is designed to last.
More than just a parachute cord - Although paracord was designed for use as a suspension line for parachutes. This high strength cord has proven over the years to have a number of other uses. No camping / hiking or survival gear would be complete without a length of this highly versatile cord. Uses for paracord are endless. Below are a few ideas:

In places where the insulation had been worn away, Teflon® patches were applied and secured with parachute cord. This reflects both the comfortable texture of the nylon rope and its place as a military icon.

artic tent booties for hammock camping?
hi dose any one know where i can get some tent booties from for hammock camping in winter the only thing that's getting cold is my feet ive seen the army surplus ones on a video these would be fine but for the life of me can't find them
You can get a good pair from REI for about $20. Combine them with some wool socks and foot warmers and you should be fine.
