There are many activities that you can participate in when you go on a camping trip. You will be spending a lot of time in the outdoors to finding things to do is easy. Make sure to bring some sporting equipment. Something that is very popular on campgrounds these days is horseshoes. Another great pastime when you are camping is badminton.
Going for hikes is a great way to stay in shape and to examine wilderness at it's finest. You can get a trail map from the campground rangers. Follow the guide and teach your family all about Mother Nature. If you are a more advanced hiker you can get a GPS and use it to make your own trails.
There are many ways to make you camping trip a success with your family. If you teach your children at a young age that camping in the wilderness is a good time then maybe they will spend less time playing video games and more time outdoors.

While it's probably more than 3 hours, check out the Algonquin Provincial Park. But heck, Ontario also has LOTS of private campgrounds, and if you want to really rough it, you can get permits to camp anywhere on Crown land.
