Can I use a Brunton fuel canister on an MSR Whisperlite stove? The parts seem to fit fine.?
So here's the deal. I have a Brunton .8L/20.3 oz fuel canister, brand new. I just bought a new MSR Whisperlite stove which seems to have the same sized opening, the tops are easily interchangeable. I assume the Brunton canister can be used with the MSR stove, but I am hoping somebody has first hand experience so that I can feel secure about doing this. I just would rather not find out it doesn't work by severely burning myself or something else. Thank you!
You should be fine with both. The whisperlite comes in both liquid fuel and caned fuel version. But they shoul both work fine. I would hook it up with fuel and pressurize it then turn it on so that the gas can come out listen to make sure its oly coming out of the stove then use water mixed with a little soap and put it on and around the connection point between the can and the stove if it bubbles its not a secure fit and i would suggest not using it. PS MSR fuel cans are stronger than most they have thicker walls but still boast light weights jsut a heads up
