Case Camping
Going camping at a campground is quite a bit different than roughing it in the wilderness. If you plan to rough it out in the wilderness, you will need to take a few extra steps to ensure that you are prepared for the camping trip. Sure, you are going to need some of the basic stuff that you need when you go to a campground to camp, but you will also need to bring along some extra stuff just to ensure that you are ready for anything.
One of the biggest dangers of going out into the wilderness to camp is that you are far away from any kind of help; the closest point of help is going to be a ranger's station. At a campground, there is usually somebody on the site or you have other campers around to help in case of an emergency. Being faced with the vast emptiness of the wilderness, you want to make sure that you pack an extensive first aid kit. Not only do you want to have the items that normally come inside of a first aid kit, but you should also carry some extras. Some of the extras that you will want to carry are a snakebite kit, epi pens, waterproof matches, and extra bandages. Personal medications should also be included in the first aid kit; you should bring more than what you will need just in case you are faced with an extended stay due to unforeseen circumstances.
Another thing that you will want to have on a wilderness camp-out is plenty of extra clothes, for all types of weather. Even if it is hot in the mountains during the day, chances are come nightfall the temperatures are going to drop. In addition, being up in the mountains it can even snow during the winter because of how much colder it gets in the higher altitudes. In addition to the extra clothes you will also want you bring extra blankets and sleeping bags, one or two of the heat blankets should also be included in the first aid kit supplies.
When going out into the wilderness you will need to bring just about everything to survive, you will need the basics like toilet paper and trash bags, which you can never have too many trash bags. You will also need to bring some extra wood, just in case the wood that is lying around is wet. Chairs and tables are also necessary, unless you plan on eating on your lap and sitting in the dirt.
Just remember that if you plan to go camping in the wilderness you want to be prepared for anything that might happen, which can include forest fires or animal attacks.
