Color Changing
The other day I was out at the store and came across the cutest home shower curtain. It had ducks on it and they were fighting a mock war. I thought it was really awesome, really funny, and the perfect addition to my bathroom, so I bought it. When I got to the register the sales person said "ANOTHER one?" and then laughed with me.
It's true. I have more than one home shower curtain for each bathroom. In fact, I have a drawer with quite a few of them in it back home. Some people have a lot of bed sheets, but me, I collect these bathroom accents. Those may not seem analogous to you, but they make perfect sense to me.
Think about it, why might you change your sheets? Because they got dirty. Because you got bored of the color. Because you found a really cool one. Because you were changing the look and feel of your room. And all those reasons? Well, they work for almost ANY decorating element. And they certainly work for a home shower curtain.
It's a lot easier to clean your home shower curtain when it's off the rod. Changing the color of it every now and then, like changing your sheets, can help bring some excitement to your room. Suddenly, something is a little bit different, a little bit less rote. As a result, you can feel more energized and your mood improved.
Obviously cool things abound everywhere, but I think changing the look and feel of a room is the most important reason to have more than one home shower curtain. My design philosophy is to create rooms that are aesthetically flexible. What this means is while the room is unified, if I want to change something, even a small thing, I don't have to redesign the whole room. It's flexible, and so I can mix and match accent pieces with no fear.
This design philosophy not only saves me time and money from redesigning a room every time I get bored of it (happens more often than you might think), but it also means that my decor is always fresh. So I pick a home shower curtain that reflects the look and feel of the bathroom and then I buy a couple more. That way my home shower curtain becomes a part of the bathroom's design and something I am not tied to. It becomes a dynamic accent piece, rather than something just there to keep the water out.
I know that not everyone reading this will ever care as much as I do about accent pieces. And I'm unlikely to convince everyone to buy a new home shower curtain every few months. But start thinking about them more like you would any flexible accent piece, not just as a utility item. By switching your thinking, you can expand your design by leaps and bounds.

What is the name of a color changing jewel?
I am using color poetry and I thought that amethyst was the name of the color changing jewel. But I just googled it and it came up as a violet jewel. Can anybody tell me what I am looking for? I beleive its a birthstone color too.
none of the gemstones really change colors, but opals look like lots of colors
