But with the advantages, come the disadvantages. The disadvantages are cleaning, poor heat transfer, and the pricing. Some find that the cookware is not as easy to clean when food has gotten stuck to the protective coating. But its nothing that a little scrubbing can't bring off. When it comes to buying stainless steel cookware, be sure that you are purchasing the higher quality cookware that has the aluminum or copper bottom. Otherwise, the cookware is going to have little heat transfer and delay thoroughly cooking your food. Some people find that the higher the quality the more expensive the cookware. But on the positive side of the price is the fact it will last you a lifetime. Stainless may have disadvantages; however, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Many don't mind having to spend a little more for higher quality cookware and having to scrub for its durability.
Stainless steel can be a great asset to any kitchen. You just have to compare the pros and cons and see which are more important aspects to you. If you decide that stainless steel pots and pans are right for you, a few brands to consider are: All-Clad, Calphalon, Circulon, Creuset, Cuisinart, Farberware, KitchenAid, Magnalite, and Rachel Ray enamel cookware. Also, if you do purchase stainless cookware, consider purchasing stainless bakeware as well. Just keep in mind, if you are going to buy cookware, go with quality!
