It shouldn't hurt the sleeping bag at all. Alot of sleeping bags are made to be compressed for hiking purposes. These bags are usually designed not to clump or spread the filling inside when you do this. Sleeping bags are not only designed to be compressed, but can actually be made very small to put in your pack and should regain it's fullness when you take it out again
