What are some good emergency food rations?
What are some good emergency food rations that I could take camping with me. Stuff with lots of calories.
Not protein bars or energy bars, etc.
Wow these people don't know what emergency food is if you are talking about foods you would need in the events of an earthquake or other natural disaster. If you are going camping, some of those foods are possible but still not ideal.
Emergency food should not need to be refrigerated (i.e. milk, cheeses or meats), should not spoil or go bad (bread, etc) or be easily crushed (cakes, chips, crackers, etc). You need things that will last without being kept cold, won't grow mold, and can easily be carried/transported without a car (you will most likely have them in a backpack).
Foods that would work:
-Bottled water or water purifying tabs.
-Beef/turkey jerky
-Nuts
-Dried fruits (cranberries, banana chips, apricots, etc)
-Powdered drink mix
At lot of army surplus stores have food that works for either camping/emergency use. They also usually sells camping cookware that is easily portable.
