Emergency Disaster

Most people don't think about a potential emergency or disaster happening and affecting their lives. However, there are quite a few things that can negatively impact your life and put you into a disaster type situation even if it is just for a few days.
For most people having drinking water seems like a normal thing that will always be there. While water typically is the most reliable service, there are times when your water service might go out. For these situation, you might want to think about having a backup plan just in case.
First of all, it is very practical to have a supply of drinking water that you can easily access at a moments notice. Be sure to have at least three days worth of drinking water for each member in your family. This would be about a gallon a day per person.
The easiest way to do this is to keep it in containers in your home or garage. Logically the best place is to keep these containers in your refrigerator and freezer. If something happens like your power going out, these cooled containers will not only be your water supply, but will help keep some of your food cool.
If you have common disasters in your area that could put you into a situation where the power could go out and severe flooding could impact your water supply, prepare for it before hand. Most of the time there will be warning messages before major storms hit.
If you know a storm is coming, take a few large containers in your home and fill them with water. You can even do this with your bathtub as well. This water can be used just in case. If not, simply use it on your plants or for another purpose. The point is that you will at least have something ready if a disaster does take place.
You might also want to get some basic water purification devices. There are many that are very inexpensive that could purify less than one hundred gallons of water. This may not seem like much, but just one of these could extend your water supply by weeks.
Water is something many of us take for granted, but it can become a huge problem during a disaster if you do not have any. Take a few precautionary measures to ensure you have the water that you need in the event of a disaster.

Do you know banks, atm's, and credit cards will not help you after a great disaster? Emergency cash on hand?
After a great disaster, whether because of terrorism or other causes, you may find that banks will be closed and atm's won't work, and that credit cards and personal checks will not be accepted. How will you buy food, assuming that any is available, during the time before normal conditions return, if they ever do? Most experts recommend an emergency cash fund of $1,000 in small bills, and some gold and silver coins. It is also advisable to keep emergency supplies of food and water, medical supplies, paper products, and any items for special needs of your own, not to mention some means of protecting your famiy and yourself.
We do keep some emergency funds on hand but i didn't think about keeping at least $1000.
That's smart...thank you.
