Frame Hiking

Now that you have selected the oval frame you want, it is time to prepare your picture to fit into the frame. There are a few steps you need to take to ensure your picture will look its best in your new oval frame. Following these steps will make the process an easy one.
- The first step is to remove the glass and backing from the oval frame to expose just the oval frame. Next, place the frame over the picture to get a feel for how the picture will look in the frame. When you are satisfied with how the picture looks, it is time to move onto cutting your picture to fit your oval frame.
- Carefully lift the frame from your picture and position the oval glass where the frame was. Adjust the placement of the glass until you are satisfied with how the picture looks within the oval. Be very careful when adjusting the glass over the picture as you don't want it to scratch the image.
- Once the glass is placed where you think you want it, check to be sure the picture is centered and will be straight in the oval frame. The image in the picture should not be tilted or you will have a lopsided picture. Whatever the object of your photo, it is important that the overall spacing in the frame is centered horizontally and vertically. You want the person or couple in the center of the frame, not off to one side. A helpful hint for vertical spacing is to have the person's head 2/3 of the way up from the bottom of the frame. That way the spacing at the top of the frame will fit with the rest of the picture alignment.
- Once satisfied with the placement of the picture, gently trace a thin line around the glass onto the front of the picture with a ball point pen. Do not use a marker pen as it will bleed onto your picture, and a sharp pen or pencil may scratch your picture. Use a sharp pair of scissors to cut along the traced oval line. To avoid leaving a rough cut edge or possibly damaging your picture do not use a dull pair of scissors.
- Clean the glass with a lint-free cloth and allow it to dry before placing your picture into the frame. Once all that is done it is time to put the frame and picture together.
- Most frames come with backing, but if your frame did not, you can create your own using cardboard or archival mat board. Using the frame as your template, you will need to place the frame face up on the cardboard/mat board, slide the pen underneath the frame and trace around the edge of the frame. Cut the cardboard/mat board and assemble your oval picture frame.
- To complete your frame (if you made your own backing), small brads (about 1/4" long) can be gently pushed into the wood siding of the frame to secure the backing.
- Most high quality frames include the hanging hardware you need, but it is wise to ask the frame retailer to be sure they are included.
Hopefully these steps will help you prepare your picture with ease and encourage you to use oval frames to help decorate your home.

Black Iridium or Gold Iridium (Polarized)? Which lens tint / color is best for Oakley Polarized Sunglasses?
I am about to buy a pair of Oakley polarized Flak Jacket sunglasses. I want to decide between Black Iridium or Gold Iridium (both polarized).
They come in Jet Black / Polished Rootbeer frames.
I want them mostly for driving, tennis, hiking and everyday use. Both functionality and cool factor are important for me.
Does anyone have any experience with these two different lens tints?
