Hot Weather
I know many of you have seen a dog sitting in a car while their owner is shopping inside a store. If it is 85 degrees outside the inside of a car can reach 102 degrees in less than 10 minutes. A parked car becomes an oven even when parked in the shade with the windows down. Animals can die after being locked in a car on a hot day.
Even if you think you are only going to be gone for a short period....time has a way of getting away from us and before we know it an hour or two has gone by. Would you want to sit in a car without ventilation for even a few moments in stifling heat? Heat stroke is a common cause when pets are left in a hot vehicle. Dogs are inefficiently equipped to dissipate heat from their bodies because their only means of doing so is through panting. They lose a small amount of heat through sweating of the pads on their feet, but otherwise dogs do not have sweat glands. This means a dog left in an enclosed car for even five to ten minutes during hot weather can be in trouble. Excessive panting and hypothermia leads to weakness, shock and eventually death.
Heat stroke can be treated if caught early enough that body cells are not damaged by the heat. Once cells begin to die as body temperature rises, animals will sustain irreversible organ damage and other problems due to toxic chemicals released by the damaged cells.
Rectal temperatures above 105 degrees require measures to cool a pet. Using cool (not cold) water is recommended until the pet temperature reaches 103.5. Vital signs and organ functions should be monitored by a veterinarian immediately and the pet placed on fluid therapy.
Next time you head out for a shopping trip remember it is better and safer to leave your pet at home where he will remain comfortable and safe. Have plenty of fresh water for him especially during those hot spells. He'll be a happy dog when he sees you return and even happier if you brought him a new toy or treat.

What are teens supposed to wear in hot weather without looking trampy?!?
If it's hot out, and a group of teens wanna go to the park, what would we wear? If we wear tank tops and shorts (which was MADE to be worn in hot weather) then it is fairly obvious we are going to be called frickin' sluts. Or, at least, that's what people say around here when you wear that kinda stuff. What could I do to the outfit to make it look more reserved without getting a heat stroke?
Something light in fabric as well as color.
If you are going to wear a little top wear something thin that's a little bit longer under (like a wifebeater) that's what I do.
Sun dresses do the trick too, or light skirts; if you're gonna wear a tiny skirt or shorts wear some light tights underneath.
This is stuff I do. Also wear your hair up if it's long cause that has A LOT to do with it too!
