It's a problem of voltage and current. I don't know what type of motor you're using, but if you're blowing LEDs then you need to regulate both the voltage and the current. Incandescent bulbs are rated for anywhere between 20 and 200 Watts. An LED is usually only rated for 5V and a couple of milliamps, so a Watt or less.
