Lil Oscar
The sight of a thanks giving speech at the annual Academy Awards might be a dream of many budding musicians all around the globe but AR Rahman the music maestro from India got it pretty early in his music career. Last year, at the 81st Academy Awards he went on to win two awards for best original score and best song for his compositions in the film Slumdog Millionaire. He was the first Indian to do it and he achieved the feat at a relatively early age of 43. This year is no exception in the tale of this talented musician with his composition from Couples Retreat being short listed again for the 82nd Academy Awards.
Recently his composition Na Na was selected for the original song category at the Oscar's this year. It has to be seen whether he strikes gold this time around or not but it is definitely true that this selection has kept his fans brimming in a hope for another Oscar. Moreover, his delightful progeny Jai Ho has also been nominated for the Grammy awards to be held this year. The Grammy awards are often said to be the Oscars of music industry, so it is rightly said that he has been going places in a very short period.
His music is often regarded as versatile and he is believed by many to have command over different genres in Indian music. He started his musical journey as a keyboard player and an arranger in bands with friends. It is often said that he was always fascinated by musical instruments and had quite a command over many of them, synthesizer being the favorite of him. He has done his graduation in Western Classical music from the Trinity College of music.
Rahman has given music for many Hindi and Tamil movies since his career began in early 90's. Such is the depth of his music that his music finds takers even if the film is struggling hard at the Box Office. It is often said that he is the principal cause of the revival of quality music in Indian Film Industry. He is also described to be one of the most innovative film makers to have ever worked in Industry in any medium. In recent times he has expanded his foray by entering the Hollywood. Even the legendary king of pop Michael Jackson who passed away in June expressed his desire to work with him.
Noted director Baz Luhrmann says about him: "I had come to the music of A. R. Rahman through the emotional and haunting score of Bombay and the wit and celebration of Lagaan. But the more of AR's music I encountered the more I was to be amazed at the sheer diversity of styles: from swinging brass bands to triumphant anthems; from joyous pop to West-End musicals. Whatever the style, A. R. Rahman's music always possesses a profound sense of humanity and spirit, qualities that inspire me the most". This speaks itself of his music and the rave following that he has today. If he is able to sustain his aura then we might witness a career graph that might be hard to emulate.
my oscar fish will not eat?
i have tryd pellets flakes and steak he will grab all of it but will not swollow it spits it back out so i dropd a catfish in clean tank up lil since he wasnt eatn n soon as i put him in he tryd eat the catfish it got stuck in its mouth n after 2 days i had to go in and remove it for him his mouth was stuck open but he got it closed next morning when i got up he also is has turnd colors on me more grey is coming out was more black color its been a week since hes eatn will he starve his self what can i do? thanks
Most Oscars want live food, a.k.a. feeder goldfish. That is why he went after the catfish, he wanted something live. I would get a couple feeder goldfish from you local pet store and see how quickly he eats them. It's normal for them to grab something and then immediately spit it out, then grab it back in their mouth again and repeat the process. This is because they are used to eating things like crayfish that have claws that can cause a lot of damage to them if they try to swallow them whole and alive. They spit them back out and then bite them again to break those claws to keep them from getting injured. So if you see your Oscar do that to the goldfish, it is normal. My guess is he'll gobble them all up and want more. Oscars usually need live food once they start to get bigger, pellets and flake just aren't enough to fill them up.
He probably turned gray because of the stress from trying to eat the catfish and getting it stuck. He should be alright in a few days from that.
