Liter High
Your city or municipality must add chlorine to the water supply in order to assure that the water being provided for cooking, bathing and drinking is bacteria free. A small amount of chlorine is all that is needed to kill water-borne diseases such as dysentery, cholera, typhoid and hepatitis. Water that is properly treated by chlorination is safe to drink, however, some cities and municipalities often add more than enough as a precaution. Often times, the amount of chlorine can meet or exceed the level of chlorine found in swimming pools.
High levels of chlorine can give water an unpleasant taste and odor. It can also cause skin irritation and, for more sensitive people, burning of the eyes. Chlorine introduced into the water supply reacts with other naturally occurring elements to form haloacetic acids and trihalomethanes (THMs), a toxin that eventually makes its way into our bodies and have been linked to an array of health problems, such as eczema, asthma, heart disease and bladder cancer. Lifetime consumption of water supplies with THMs at a level greater than 0.10 milligrams per liter has been determined by the Environmental Protection Agency to be a potential cause of cancer.
There are a number of different methods for removing chlorine from your household water, depending on your need. Some water supplied by counties and cities has such a high level of chlorine it has a smoky-white appearance. An entire house filtration system can remove the chlorination. A whole house system usually uses reverse osmosis, and will purify all water that is piped into your house, including your kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities.
For normal chlorine levels, a filter attached to your faucet can purify the water and remove excess chemicals. There are even water pitchers with filters attached to the spout. An In-line filter, which is attached to the pipes under your kitchen sink, is also an effective way to remove excess chlorine in your drinking and cooking water. Filtered water must be used soon after it is filtered, because the small amount of remaining microbes may proliferate over time without the presence of chlorine to kill the bacteria.
High levels of chlorine in your drinking and cooking water shouldn't be your only concern. There is also a danger of inhaling the chloroform gas that is created in the steam vapor from a shower. Inhaling chloroform can trigger an asthma attack and cause severe respiratory irritation. Special filtered shower heads can be purchased and are easily installed in place of your existing shower head. Chlorinated bath water can deposit toxins into your skin, which can cause skin rashes, allergies and other problems.
Water treatment by chlorination is an effective way to rid the water supply of bacterial diseases, but you need to be cautious with the amount of chlorine that is in your supply. Choose a filtration system that is best suited for your family's needs and will guarantee their health and safety.

Engine Liters: higher the liter, faster the car?
i understand that the liter is the volume of the cylinders added up, but does the higher the liter mean the car is faster. for example, i have an 2.2L '02 cavalier, and i know my car isn't going to beat a 1.8L '07 pontiac vibe, mind you, these cars both being stock.
Horsepower and torque are what make the car faster. For example, my parents' Lexus is a 4.3 liter V-8. You can get a Ferrari F430 which has the same liter engine (4.3), but obviously the Ferrari has more torque and a lot more horsepower.
