Causes
All avian influenza (AI) viruses are type A influenza virus in the virus family of Orthomyxoviridae and all known strains of influenza A virus infect birds.
Avian influenza (also known as bird flu, avian flu, influenzavirus A flu, type A flu, or genus A flu) is a flu due to a type of influenza virus that is hosted by birds, but may infect several species of mammals.Two forms of bird flu exist among domesticated poultries infected with avian influenza viruses. New strains of the virus are also said to be possibly emerging especially in Asian countries.This medicine Tamiflu is advertised as a medicine to cure influenza. Tamiflu is the only medicine that attacks the source of the viral infection and prevents the flu from spreading throughout the body.

Antiviral medications such as Tamiflu, Relenza, Amantadine and Rimantadineare available for the treatment and prevention of human flu viruses but there effectuality for the current type of avian flu is still doubtful.

How does a typical NBC filter work and what components within it cause it to have an expiration date? If expired, does it no longer filter certain agents or does it just not work at all? Will it go bad if you open it and don't use it or does it get dirty and thus become unusable like an air filter? (assuming it's not technically expired)
Layers of carbon contain particles. Over time, the saturation level can accumulate to dangerous levels. Also, moisture can cause a premature breakdown of the carbon. It really all depends on what kind of enviorment you are in, and the amount of Chem/Bio you are exposed to.
