Mens Hiking

As you may have seen, I have posted an article about my top 3 favourite Australia Walking Trips. I decided it would be good to post more detail about each trip, route, timings etc for anyone interested in reading more. This is my second favourite trip, the Bibbilmun Track. At its full length it is over 900km from the foothills of Perth through Jarrah and Karri Forests to the rugged coastline of Albany.
But this 7-day Australia walking trip offers a taster of the whole track, from the Shannon National Park through to the Stirling Ranges National Park, taking in full day walks at some of the most spectacular areas. Some vehicle support is needed on such a section to cover the small drives between the areas, but there are a number of local travel experts that offer this type of trip.
Day 1 - Shannon National Park - 6-8km. This is a beautful start to the tour after the drive from Perth, and once at the Park you can walk as little or as much as you would like, but it is a rewarding 6km walk to Mokares Rock for the scenic views of the Karri forest. A very relaxing place to camp out for the night.
Day 2 - Karri & Tingle Forest Walk, Mt Clare and Walpole to Coalmin Beach - 13.6 km. You will get to see the huge Tingle trees, which are only found in this region. From the shaded forests of Mount Clare, walk through Karri trees to John Rate lookout with views over the Walpole Nornalup inlet. Descending to the coastal village of Walpole for lunch, before head back to Coalmine Beach for the night.
Day 3 Tingle Forest Walk, Frankland River Forest - 18.2km
Walking out of camp we begin with an ascent to Hilltop Lookout and then onto the Giant Tingle Tree. From here we continue through the cool forest and some steep terrain to the tranquil Frankland River for lunch. Following the River to the Valley of the Giants we descend to our pickup point where a short drive takes us to the "Tree Tops Walk". Hear we will experience a birds-eye view of the Tingle and Karri Trees from the elevated walkway before returning to our campsite at Coalmine Beach.
Day 4 Valley of the Giants and Coastal Transition - 14.1km
Only a short drive away is the Tree Top Walk to continue the walk from the giant forests of the south-west to the rugged coastline at Conspicuous Cliffs. There are panoramic views at Nut Lookout before a short dune section emerging at the beach, which is a great place for a refreshing swm.
Day 5 Coastal Walk - 15.5 km
The 5th day is possibly the hardest from Conspicuous Cliff down a series of rocky headlands and white sandy beaches all the way to Peaceful Bay. Keep watch for migrating whales. This is a very exposed walk, so on hot days plenty of sunscreen, water and a hat are essential.
Day 6 Coastal & Karri Walk to Denmark - 15.1km
A short drive will get you to William Bay National Park where you can walk to another of West Australia's river towns, Denmark. After some coastal cliffs and beaches the track winds its way past Monkey Rock and up Mt. Hallowell offering amazing views of the Karri meeting the coast.
Day 7 Stirling Ranges National Park
If you can get to Stirling Ranges National Park you can attempt one of South-West Australia's highest Peaks, either Bluff Knoll (1075 metres) or Toolbranup Peak (1053 metres). There are many plants anf forna unique to this area. At the end of this 7 day walking trip, you will just have enough energy for the 5-hour return trip to Perth.
The full 900km is on my list of things to do in my lifetime, I just hope I still have the energy once I have the time.

Question on Oakley 8" SI Assault Boots for Military Use?
I wear a size 13 in civie running shoes, I want to buy these boots but seeing how I am buying them online I cannot try them on first. Anyone know how these boots run in size? The boots I was issued are a size 11.5 but I have been told these boots run in true size. I just want to make sure before buying them as I hate sending stuff back.

Gerry
$1.48 In Gerry, two young men (Matt Damon and Casey Affleck) wander beautiful, barren, and surreal landscapes, gradually growing more and more lost. This film from Gus Van Sant (director of Drugstore Cowboy, My Own Private Idaho, and Good Will Hunting) has no story, hardly any dialogue, and even less in the way of "action" or "events." Yet the movie is by turns maddening and hypnotic; although few peopl... |
