Mickey Mouse
The name Mickey Mouse is synonymous with that of Walt Disney, and although the famous animator had been working for several years before the mouse debuted, Mickey has remained the spokesperson of the company ever since. Walt Disney provided the original voice for Mickey, and designed him with long term collaborator, Iwerks. Mickey Mouse trivia shows that his birth was on November 18, 1928. His first appearance with sound was in the film, "Steamboat Willie". He had appeared in an earlier version, but it is Steamboat Willie which is widely regarded as the first Mouse film.

Additionally, Mickey started staring in comic strips as early as 1930. He would also be the first Disney character from the earliest days to star in a feature film when he appeared in Fantasia.
A Mickey Mouse quiz shows that no other cartoon character is as recognized worldwide as Disney's most famous mouse. He was the first animated character to get his own star on the Walk of Fame. He has also been the face of the Disney company for many years. Feature film appearances other than Fantasia have also come, including cameos in films like "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"
Mickey has appeared in video games as well as all his other media appearances. Every major game system from the NES onward has featured at least one game that starred Mickey Mouse as a character. The most recent example of this would be the "Kingdom Hearts" series of video games which has brought together major characters from the Disney and Final Fantasy universes in games for the PlayStation 2. He is also going be a character in a new game which is set to be released on the Nintendo Wii in 2010.
