what is the meaning of cache(mb) in Micro processors.?
In Micro Proccesor's like intel pentium core to due (we can see cache .2mb or 1mb) what is the meaning of the cache?
Basically it is memory physically located inside the CPU.
It is used exclusively by the CPU.
Because it does not rely on any BUS or communication lines it can be accessed by the CPU often at it's own native frequency.
When the CPU accesses memory on RAM chips the CPU has to rely on the memory speed & the BUS (communication line) speed.... these are much slower than the CPU can actually handle.
The contents of CPU cache memory are processed much faster & more efficiently.
This gives it an enourmous impact on CPU & PC performance (especially) for intensive applications.
