Chocolates and flowers might be the top favorites as Valentine's Day gifts, but they can be dangerous to your pets. Chocolates contain theobromine which is extremely toxic to animals when ingested in excess. It can cause vomiting, diarrhea and increase the heart rate. It affects the gastrointestinal, neurological and cardiac functions resulting in fatal seizures in extreme cases. Chocolates are downright deadly for your pets. But guess what? Dogs love them. They will not hesitate to gobble up an entire box in the blink of an eye. So, the first pet safety rule on Valentine's Day is to stash your goodies out of their reach.
You might be thrilled and ecstatic when you receive a bouquet of your favorite flowers from your admirer on Valentine's Day, but did you know that some of these delicate flowers can be dangerous to your pets? All species of lilies can be fatal to pets, especially cats. Azalea, Chrysanthemum, Amaryllis, English Ivy and the bulbs of tulips are a few of the other flowers that can cause vomiting, diarrhea and other serious symptoms if ingested by your pets. If you are a pet owner then make sure to be aware of all the flowers that are dangerous to your pet and remember to remove them from a bouquet that you receive and also from those that you send to someone with a pet.
A glass of alcohol might give you a pleasant buzz but just a sip or a lick can be extremely dangerous to pets as they are much smaller. Even small amounts can cause vomiting, diarrhea, tremors and affect the central nervous system resulting in lack of coordination or even put them in coma if ingested in excess. So, make sure that you don't spill your wine or champagne when your pets are around and if you do have an accident then make sure that you mop the spill immediately.
A cozy dinner by the fireplace or a romantic dinner with candle light is a perfect setting to celebrate your Valentine's Day. Just make sure to put out the flames, as unattended fires or candles are accidents waiting to happen, especially if you have energetic and nosy pets that can knock down a burning candle or get too near to the fireplace.
Once you have opened up all your exciting gifts make sure that you properly dispose all the bows, ribbons, tapes and wrapping papers. Pets, especially dogs love to tear up and chew everything that they can get hold of. This endearing but dangerous habit might make them to choke or vomit if some pieces get stuck in their throat or stomach.
However, if your pet still manages to sample your Valentine's Day goodies then make sure to note down how much and what type of chocolate or flower was consumed and rush your pet to your vet.

how to braid a key fob from 1 or 2 pieces of para cord?
Be Prepared is my motto....looking for a way, (Key Fob), to carry at least 20 feet of paracord on my key ring.....I have seen others, but I do not know how to braid it myself.....can anyone Help?
When i was in the Army we used the same pattern that is used by kids at summer camp with the plastic gimp....do a search on that and it should give you several different patterns to use.........the problem though is that i have never seen it done w/o the center being pulled out of the para cord. By pulling out the center it will lay flat and braid much tighter, the downside is that you lose a lot of the strength of the cord and it will stretch easier.
