Privacy Shelter

December 26th 2004, at 00:58:53 UTC, an undersea mega thrust earthquake of 9.2 magnitude transpired off the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. The result was a mammoth tsunami that took the lives of more than 22500 in 11 countries. The number of people left homeless was in millions. The initial disaster response resulted in billions of dollars in donations, with international aid from medical professionals and army personnel rushing to the affected areas. However, one question remained which was, where to house all these homeless people?
When a disaster strikes, even the rich and prosperous countries are not left undamaged. The US is debatably the richest nations on the face of earth, but even it was left well short of survival from the catastrophe of Hurricane Katrina and the complete annihilation of New Orleans. With global warming concerns growing, such events have a sure possibility of occurring more frequently.
Of course, countless crisis scenarios are the unswerving consequence of political ideology, ethnic & religious divergence. From the tropics of East Timor to the Swat Valley of Pakistan, from the jungles of the Congo to the Holy Lands of Palestine, the poppy fields of Afghanistan and many other theatres of clash, temporary shelters are crucial, supporting military operations or improving the dilemma of displaced persons.
Emergency shelters are essential for disaster relief and war crisis operations. Frequently, after a tragedy such as an earthquake, hurricane, tsunami or a war breakout, there is little left of the homes that once stood in the area. Utilities and telecommunications are dislocated or wiped out of the equation. Water provisions are usually infected and hospitals that would on the whole, swing into action to hold the injured, might be ruthlessly damaged. Ambulances might not be possible to drive due to flood water, blocked roads, distorted bridges, or even worse, adversaries in the form of armed militia.
Devoid of an instantaneous Command & Control formation, bewilderment soon turns to pandemonium. All natural and war disasters are easier said than done, dealing with at the best of times. Even with the joint resources of the leading military organisations of the world, calamity of such degree, such as the Boxing Day tsunami or war outbreak in Afghanistan, trial the competence of military and humanitarian aid.
Armed forces can deploy emergency shelters in a number of ways. During natural disasters, military personnel can set-up emergency shelters for the injured and homeless people as well as for storage of aid supplies. In war zones, Armed Forces normally set up safe parameters somewhere outside the affected area, to provide for shelter and safety of the locals. Also, army compounds and underground bunkers can serve as emergency shelters for both the military personnel and the civilians.
Unfortunately, due to elements of terrorism and crime, governments, defence forces and law enforcement agencies have to be ready to react Therefore, checkpoints and guard posts are needed to be placed out in the war and peacekeeping zones. They serve as important emergency shelters for the military personnel on guard, at these points.
Overall, it does not really matter if you are looking at a tsunami in Indonesia, a hurricane in New Orleans, a war zone within Iraq, flood in China or an earthquake in Pakistan, communities lose their homes: people need shelter, and this can be provided adequately enough by Armed Forces by utilising temporary shelters effectively.

Would my midwest neighbors think it was rude to put up a privacy fence in the backyard?
I just moved from California to a small city in Nebraska where the houses are close together. Our dog keeps getting out of the chain link fence. We have a bid to build a six-foot privacy fence around our backyard, but I have heard before I moved here that people in the Midwest think it is rude or unneighborly to do that. We don't want to offend our neighbors but we like the security wind shelter, and also the privacy. We intend to spend alot of time on the front porch and in our neighborhood this summer so we are not trying to isolate ourselves. Can anybody from the Midwest fill me in on this. FYI: We live in a neighborhood which has been around about 80 years.
I live in the midwest and have a chain link fence. the only reason i have a chain link is because the wind ruins the wooden ones. Dont worry about neighbors, you have to do what is right for you and your family, just make sure the post are dug deep. Good luck and welcome to the midwest!
