Rear Flashlight

The remote walking trails offer much outdoor pleasantry. Some of them have been established along creek beds or old railroad beds at the edges of towns and cities. Others can be found further out in the country or backwoods. To experience the rustling breezes, bubbling creeks, thick foliage, flowers, trees, colorful birds and small animals, scenic vistas, and nature at its best on these trails is fun and relaxing. Yet, care needs to be taken when walking them. Here are several precautions to consider before taking-on these trails for walking exercise.
Know the basic rules for walking outdoors.
- Prepare for outdoor walking ahead of time through study and physical conditioning.
- Wear the right shoes and clothing for comfort and for the length of the intended walk.
- Be alert to any vehicle traffic, bicyclists, joggers, and other walkers, if present.
- Check the weather beforehand.
- Do not wear jewelry.
- Show good posture and confidence while walking.
- Walk with a partner or dog.
- Avoid any dangers and hazards along the way.
- Take a cellular phone.
- Carry at least one ID card.
- Carry other items as needed (water, food, cash, flashlight).
Know the dangers on remote outdoor trails.
- Watch for loose aggressive dogs or farm animals.
- Be alert for wild animals; e.g., coyotes, wolves, cougar, mountain lion, bear, deer, poisonous insects or snakes where they could exist.
- Do not feed the wild animals.
- During the twilight hours, do not step on the small sticks lying on the trail. One of them could be a young copperhead snake disguising itself as such.
- Be alert for certain debris on the trail or pathway, e.g., nuts, small thorny branches, and juts that can cause tripping, or ankle or foot injuries.
- Be alert for unusual people or questionable behavior on or near the trail.
- If vehicle traffic exists nearby, watch for unusual driving patterns, e.g., sudden turnabouts or squealing tires.
- Stay on the main path of the trail unless its side areas are designated safe. That is, do not wander from the trail into the side woods or foliage, nor take unmarked short cuts from it unless avoiding still another danger of some kind. Otherwise, you will probably be trespassing on private property, and dealing with potential insects and snakes.
- Do not walk too far from your vehicle (if one is used to get to the trail) unless prepared for darkness or overnight camping.
Carry safety devices or know self-defense moves in remote areas.
- Wear sunglasses and a hat when the shade is scarce on hot days. Use sunscreen.
- Carry a water bottle for long walks if the trail or pathway is not equipped with trailheads or water fountains.
- Carry food or energy bars on long walks.
- Take a small umbrella if it is rainy. It can also provide shade, or be a defense mechanism.
- Use a walking stick for basic support on hills and slopes. It can also help fend off a loose dog or animal.
- Have your cell-phone ready to auto-dial emergency numbers and contacts. Also, if in doubt about the people around you, talk to someone on this phone while walking, or act like you are doing so (leaving one ear open). Note: this defensive precaution also works in the large parking lots at schools and shopping areas.
- Carry a mouth whistle or loud personal alarm to warn others or to call for nearby help.
- For extra self-protection, carry a small canister of easy-to-activate pepper spray or a small stun-gun disguised as a cell phone. If walking in bear country, carry bear spray. Also, if necessary, carry a small blunt or sharp instrument for defensive purposes. Make sure these devices are in working order first.
- Also, know or learn more than one practiced self-defense move. That is, take training to learn how to make hard precise jabs or kicks to an attacker's groin, eyes, throat, and gut.Â
In summary, avoid anything or anyone your gut feels doubtful about on a remote trail. More importantly, before going to the trail, take the time to prepare well for an entertaining, pleasant, refreshing, and relaxing outdoor walk.

Early Model T's were built to run on ethanol as well as gasoline. What would it take to modify a modern gas...
(not diesel) engine to run on METHANOL...?
This is for a fictional situation with people away from civilization, etc. but I want to include legitimate detail. They don't have a machine shop, but I'm looking for ideas on tuning, etc. What kind of mixture would it take?
It doesn't have to run well. In fact, the rear axle is gone, so don't worry about mileage. All they need is a way to run the alternator to recharge the vehicle batteries periodically, so they can recharge flashlights, radios, etc., whose batteries have ALSO gone dead.
Thanks!
if it is carbrated simply drill out the jets in the carburetor.
the holes will need to be almost twice as large as the are now.
it takes almost twice as much ethanol as it would on gas..
just keep richining it up till it will run..no other changes needed.
we do it on race cars all the time
