standby / hibernate on laptop?
i have a laptop by HP, when i am not using it for short periods i'll close the lid but not power it down, sometimes when i open it the green power light is flashing, the screen is black but all i need to do is press the mouse key and it pops back into life............ however, sometimes when i close the lid and open it the green light is on permanently along with the black screen and no matter what i do i can't get it off stand-by / hibernate and have to either remove the battery or hold the power button down till it re-boots. anyone any idea on the following:-
A, what power mode is it going into when the steady green light comes on and i have to re-boot / why is it doing this sometimes and not all the time?
B, can I sort this in the power management menu?
please also let me know if you know why it only sometimes does this??

Its kind of a vista issue. When you close your lid it automatically goes to sleep. Sometimes its sleep cycle gets interrupted and wakes up when its still closed, and then gets confused when its opened again. All I have to do on mine is if the power light is on steady and the screen wont come back on, close it again until the power light starts to blink and then try to wake it up again. It usually works for me. Hope this helps!
