Surefire Flashlight
You may have the best of cabinets with the best of drawers but if you lack the right drawer pulls, then you will not achieve the desired effect. The elegance and beauty of your home is of essence, as this is where you spend a substantial amount of time. Drawer knobs and pulls carry a lot of decorative weight. Whether you want to revamp the appearance of your bathroom, kitchen or bedroom, doing a perfect job is crucial. This article is a step by step do it yourself guide on installing drawer pulls. However, it should not be taken as a surefire way for all installations. A brief consultation with an expert is highly advised when in doubt.
STEP 1:
Before commencing the installation process, you should count the dressers, cupboards and cabinets that need pulls. Decide which drawer pull you need for each drawer and cabinet, or if you need cabinet knobs for your cabinets - there is a difference between the two. Record the number of each that you need.
STEP 2:
Pick those brass drawer pulls (or any other material that you might choose) from a hardware store, department store or a home improvement store. Some of them, such as antique pulls, need special ordering. Don't just buy the first type of pulls you spot; there are many varieties and many stores stock different selections. Take the time and get the best for your project.
STEP 3:
You hold the entire project in your hands. You have to decide on which door face to install your pulls. Mark this spot with some tape. If you picked drawer pulls with two fasteners, make sure that you measure the distance in between the screws and make them with appropriate markings on your selected face.
STEP 4:
A level will help you in aligning the holes. Measure the exact distance for each pull and make the relevant adjustments in accordance to the level.
STEP 5:
Drill a hole in your first cabinet. Fit the screw from the drawer pull to verify that it fits. Drill subsequent holes in the same manner. The painters tape should be removed after drilling.
STEP 6:
Place the screw in the first hole and turn the pull by hand consequently tightening it with a flat head screwdriver. Make sure that it is secure and steady and then proceed subsequently to install the other pulls.
