Who doesn't like a nice, warm jumper? Or for that matter a cardigan, sweater vest, slipover, gilet or a zip-up?
And when such a garment is spun from the finest lambswool clothing, the wearer can be sure of unsurpassed luxury with thick fibres keeping them cosy - regardless of what the weather throws their way.
Yet while we're happy to enjoy the warmth provided by these stylishly practical garments, do we think about how our comfortable attire is manufactured?
You may be surprised at just how technical the process of turning luxury yarns, such as lambswool, merino and cashmere, into jumpers and garments really is, with around 30 processes involved.
Let us look at the different qualities that these materials possess. Merino wool is perhaps one of the best known, and garments made from this sumptuously soft material can be found in stores across the world.
The wool gets its name from Merino sheep, which were originally bred solely in Spain but are now reared worldwide, with New Zealand flocks particularly revered for the quality of their wool. Merino is a particularly fine material making it incredibly soft, yet also very strong.
Cashmere is seen as the next rung on the ladder above merino, and has long been viewed as a luxury material - in fact, in Roman times the material was reserved purely to be worn by the highest-ranking leaders.
The soft coat of the Cashmere goat is what makes the material so special, and the manufacturing process involved means that garments end up warm, cosy and comfortable but "breathe" well.
Before the innovation of Gore-Tex and other similar waterproof materials, cashmere was the fabric of choice for explorers conquering Everest and undertaking other adventures.
Lambswool clothing is perhaps not viewed as being quite as deluxe as merino or cashmere, but it is still a highly efficient and desirable natural material.
Wool has particular characteristics that make it perfect for wearing - it is immensely strong, it can absorb moisture without feeling excessively wet, and particular breeds of sheep provide comfortable and non-itchy fleeces that can be used to make comfortable and cozy jumpers and other items of clothing.
Talking of different clothing, you'll note when looking in the lambswool clothing sections of leading retailers that there is an eclectic assortment of garments available.
In addition to the extensive range of jumpers that you would expect to find, a wide selection of lambswool hats, gloves, scarves, jackets, socks and even dressing gowns are available.
