Tool Camping

There's probably nothing radical or revolutionary about this idea, but perhaps you have never planned and executed such a combination trip before: bicycling and camping.
If you love camping, you may well be one of the many people who also enjoys bicycles and long bike rides. Such outdoor living for the double-sport enthusiast opens a whole wide world of fitness fun. Why not combine the best of two worlds and take a bicycle camping trip?
If you've done this before, you're aware of the fun a well-planned bicycle camping trip can be. If you haven't tried such a trip yet -- why not??
Okay, I confess my experience stems from a wild idea a buddy of mine and I had when we were sophomores in high school. We were going to do a bicycle camping trip one summer from southwestern Idaho (Boise) to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. We never got past the dreaming stage, though. We knew, of course, being all of 15 years old, that the trip was a lock. Our parents, however, were less than eager to let us share the road with large semi-trucks that would burst past us and toss us into the ditch. They vetoed our plan. Note to kids and teenagers: Always go with parental guidance when you have such brainstorms.
That was then and this is now. Nowadays, you can find some wonderful resources both online and offline for planning bicycle camping trips, and for buying quality bicycles suitable for any trip you plan. There are also a wide variety of great lightweight tents and sleeping bags available for cyclists. Plan your trip, plan for all of the supplies you'll need, and shop carefully to get exactly the right stuff for a solid bicycle camping experience. Here's an abbreviated checklist to help with the planning and preparations:
1. Your bicycle -- Look for something sturdy and reliable. Depending on the miles you'll be traveling and the terrain you wish to cover, you will probably want either a touring or road bike, or if you're seriously off-roading, a good mountain bike. As with any long cycling trip, or any cycling involving off-road terrain, spending your money on something reliable but simple is probably the best investment. If you're going with multi-speeds (and why wouldn't you?), pay special attention to the most "break-able" parts and get something with quality, reliable derailleurs, cables, and tires.
2. Your bicycle equipment -- Remember, this is a cycling trip as well as a camping trip. Don't overlook the obvious: a quality tool kit for maintaining and repairing your bike, as well as spare tires/tubes/chain/cables. While a bicycle camping trip can be great, exciting fun, a "bicycle walking tour" along the side of a road to the nearest town to repair the bike absolutely isn't fun. And, of course, no serious cyclists forget to bring along water, do they?
3. Your camping gear -- For a bicycle camping trip, "light weight" must lead your planning. Include the basics, a tent, a groundcloth, some rope and some tent stakes, and a good sleeping bag. Or, if you're very adventuresome and weather conditions aren't likely to be too severe, look for a good bivvy sack and you can forget the tent. Unless this is a very short trip and you're planning on eating meals in restaurants or fast-food joints (not many of those in the woods, though, are there?), you'll need minimal cooking equipment. Include some water beyond that you would carry in a bottle or canteen, i.e., think significant water jug of some sort.
Make your bicycle camping trip as elaborate or as simple as you wish. With careful planning and adequate supplies, you can travel across our great nation on a bicycle, camping as you go. Or, you can limit yourself to the town just down the road. (And if you're eager to go from southwestern Idaho to Yellowstone Park and back on a bicycle -- make sure you have parental permission first.)

Can I use Paint Tool SAI if I have Parallel Desktops for my Mac OS?
Or do I need Boot Camp?
Which do you think will be best?
the only issues parallels has is it doesn't give direct hardware access completely so you will have directx fail. I don't see that being an issue with a paint program. According to their site, that program will run under windows 98. So you might not even need parallels. WINE does a pretty good job on win 98 software, if you can manage to get it installed properly.
However, based on past experience, i can tell you that if you DO have parallels, you should set up bootcamp before installing it. It is able to run the xp bootcamp partition as a virtual machine, so you only need one install to do both. If you are only planning on getting parallels just to run this one program, there are free programs that are just as powerful, such as GIMP. Gimp is available on everything. Windows, mac, linux, unix, etc. Finally, if you haven't actually gotten the paint program in question yet, you can't go wrong simply downloading their trial version and giving it a shot. Keep in mind though that i don't recommend running parallels on a mac with less than 2 gigs of ram since you will need to give xp at least 512 of it when parallels is running, and at least 768 or so for vista.
