Are you familiar with Tony Horton's P90X workout program? Well, if you're not then this article will shed some insights into whether or not you can get results or as they say -- get ripped and 90 days -- using the P90X exercise program.
Here's everything you need to know on how to get ripped in 90 days using the P90X muscle confusion workouts.
One of the great things about the P90X workout schedule is their use of 5 different workouts over a 13 week period of time. Tony Horton, the trainer that created the P90X workout program created both an effective and for some -- and easy-to-follow at-home workout program. Many times people ask me -- "does P90X work ?"
The answer, as in all workout programs... is -- yes -- but only if you use it.
(Just a quick side note--- that the P90X fitness guide is a well thought out tool. It doesn't mean you have to spend the $140 or $150 that the P90X goes for in order to get all the benefits of this type of workout. You can use the muscle confusion workout with any training program.)
The essence of the P90X muscle confusion workout is basic to any workout. The exercise part of program consists of 5 different workouts.
Here's how they are broken down.
1. Chest and back
2. Shoulders and arms
3. Legs and back
You would use this workout for the first 4 weeks of phase 1. In phase 2 -- for the next four weeks you replace the first two workouts with these two.
4. Chest, shoulders and triceps
5. Back and biceps
In phase 3 they alternate the exercises again. For the first two weeks you would use the exercise program one and exercise program two. Then for the third and fourth week you will use exercise program four and five.
Tony Horton does a great job in using the P90X muscle confusion system. He also alternates other variables, such as -- repetitions, sets, rest periods, and the order of exercises. By utilizing muscle confusion he practically guarantees that you will get results in your workouts.
This principle is effective because it does not allow the body -- the muscles -- to become accustomed to the training regiment. By constantly changing the tempo and other variables you are shocking the muscles into growth consistently.
The best example of using a muscle confusion workout would be to introduce isometric training into the mix. This is what a lot of people have done including Arnold Schwarzenegger in his own program.
