Vintage Camping

You are looking forward to the weekend camping trip with your loved one after a draining work week. Your checklist is done, the gear is packed, and you daydream about the excitement that lies in store. But there is one small problem. Your RV is too big for both of you, and your sedan a little too small. What do you do...? Worry not. The teardrop camper is here.
Popularly known as the baby among towable campers, these are a perfect accessory for your camping needs.
If you are looking for something small, want to conserve fuel, don't want to spend a lot of time on setting up and takedown, a teardrop camper is your best friend. They are economical and have a cozy interior. Perfect for you and your partner to snuggle up after a day of camping.
Why are they called teardrop campers? Well...if you see them you will know the reason why. They have a distinct curved shape to them, like a tear, and tipped on one side. The curved shape allows this camper to maximize space. About four feet high and eight feet long, a teardrop camper contains a bed big enough for a couple and a kitchen under the back hatch.
Teardrop campers rode into popularity after World War II. They were practical, stylish, and a big hit with the do-it-yourself generation.
Post World War II, teardrop campers were built using leftover and salvaged materials. Salvaged wheels from war jeeps found new life as wheels for teardrop campers. The shiny exterior covering, of teardrop trailers, was actually plane wings from World War II bombers.
You have four basic options if you plan to buy a teardrop trailer.
1. Purchase a new one 2. Buy an old one 3. Purchase a vintage camper that has been restored 4. Restore a vintage camper
A camping expedition requires essential items such as...
1. Tents
2. Sleeping bag
3. Blankets for warmth
4. Sleeping pad - placed under the sleeping bag for insulation from the ground
5. Flash light
6. Folding chairs
7. Hammer - to drive tent stakes into the ground
8. Ropes - to string the clothes line and to secure the shelter
9. Raincoat
10. Chuck box - to hold camp kitchen items
11. Hiking boots
12. Personal care products/insect repellent/sunscreen
The most important thing on a camping trip is a good, replenished first aid kit. Nothing can spoil your trip like a bee sting, brush with poison ivy, or any other minor injury.
You are done planning for your camping trip. The camping gear is packed, but you are still looking for a teardrop camper.
Teardrop trailer manufacturers' custom build trailers for their customers. You may not find a teardrop trailer at an RV dealership. Even camping and recreational shows do not have teardrop trailers on regular display.
Teardrop trailers can be hard to find. A new custom made model may not fit in your budget. Many campers take matter in their own hands and build their own trailer. There are plenty of online resources to help you at every stage in building your teardrop trailer.
Teardrop trailers are towable campers that can serve as perfect accessories for camping needs. They are economical camping options with provisions for cozy interiors. You can purchase a new teardrop camper, or buy an old one and restore it as per your needs.
What is it with pop stars (of the past, basically) and a 'certain group' of Germans?
Read in todays 'Indy on Sunday' that Brian Ferry - yes, he with soul, with offsprings named after American singers like Otis, etc., decided to growl a Nazi pun in 'Welt Am Sonntag'. Eric Clapton once upon a time (1976...when Notting Hill became somewhat more serious than happy West Indians moving to drum and bass) suggested at a Birmingham concert that Enoch Powell was right, and Britain was ‘overcrowded’...yes - he who's musical intake over the years impressed musicians from B. B. King to Bob Marley, with both playing with him.
Next on the list being David Bowie's admiration of Hitler's method of mesmerising crowds in the same year as Clapton's 'Powell' statement, with him camping up in an open-top vintage Mercedes and what some claimed was a Nazi salute staged outside Victoria Station.
As much as Mr. Ferry would like to waffle on the aesthetics of his current favourite group of people, wonder what his current 'employers' Marks & Spencers think of it all?
In the mid-1970s, punk was on the rise, and things were said and done without any sincerity, not meaning it at all, purely for shock value. Some punk bands even wore swastikas, even though they were non- or even anti-Nazi. The point was to freely and meaninglessly play with the operative symbols in the culture and rip them from their usual signification.
Although those artists you name were light years away from punk, everyone in rock 'n' roll had to acknowledge its importance, so it wouldn't surprise me if they were making lame attempts at playing the same game, and failing miserably.
But that's just a guess.
