Water Pack
Making a bug out bag can be a pretty overwhelming task if you don't pay attention to the things that you need your bag to accomplish. However, if you start paying attention to the specific functions of your bag, it makes things a little more manageable.
First up is food. You are going to need at least 2000 calories a day to maintain a moderate level of activity. MREs are good for this as they average about 1200 calories apiece. I recently went on an MRE only diet for 6 days and can tell you that I had no problem living off of two MREs a day. There are other options with ration bars, freeze-dried meals, etc., but you get the idea.
Next, and most important, is water. Water can get to be a little harder to plan for. You really need about one gallon per day, so that can get a little heavy to carry. A gallon of water weighs about 8 pounds depending on temperature and altitude. So you really need a way to filter and sanitize water that you can find. I pack enough water to get out of immediate danger from a disaster, but then my first priority is finding another source of water that is treatable.
Fire is the next thing you'll want to think about. If you have no other way of making water drinkable, you can at least strain it through a piece of clothing and boil it. But you will need a way to make fire to boil it. Packing a lighter is the obvious choice, but make sure you pack some low-tech way of making fire. There are many options to choose from, but just be sure that whichever one you pick you practice using it. You don't want the first time you ever pick it up to be when your life depends on it.
Shelter is also very important. You either need to pack it, or at least pack a way to make it. If your house is destroyed in a disaster and you have only managed to bug out to the local park, you can bet that there is probably some kind of weather that you need to get out of. How did your house get destroyed? Tornado while raining? Flood while raining? Maybe it was an earthquake but you have luck like me, so it is also raining!
Rescue is the ultimate goal, right? So your house is completely flooded and you have made it to high ground, but now it is a waiting game until help arrives. They are looking for you, but it will increase your odds dramatically if you make yourself more visible to them. Maybe your rescuers will come at night and you will have to alert them. Explore your options and make sure you pack accordingly.
First Aid is a skill you should have regardless of whether you are in a bug out situation or not. Having the basic skills to save someone's life in an emergency are invaluable. I'm not saying you need to go get a medical degree, but having a well packed fist aid kit and making sure you know how to use the items in it isn't all that hard to achieve. In this day and age of the Internet, there really is no excuse to not have these skills.
Other tools that you may need would include things like rope or paracord. You may want to pack some items to keep you occupied in your downtime. Toys for the kids or a deck of cards you and your spouse can play with can go a long way to keeping your sanity intact.
Copies of your personal documents may come in extremely handy as well. You may want to pack things like your passport or birth certificate. You may want a spare credit card just in case you have the opportunity to use it. It takes up virtually no room and can mean the difference between sleeping under a poncho or catching a ride to a nice warm hotel room out of the disaster zone.
Whatever you decide to pack in your bug out bag, just make sure and get one going. It doesn't have to be the most elaborate bag on the planet; it just needs to keep you alive. Even if you just grab a few things from the kitchen and throw them in a plastic grocery bag, isn't that better than what you have right now, which is nothing? So get to it!

How come that the north polar ice pack is made of non salt water?
And is the water surrounding it salt water?
If so how come it dousnt melt???
Well, it is all related to phase chemistry, if you really want to know. But in simple terms, fresh water freezes before salt water, and excludes the salt when freezing. The ice is at equilibrium, more or less, with the surrounding water based on temperature and salinity and all sorts of fun chemistry.
